While on an assignment with my brother, we stopped by a cafe to briefly chat with friends who were standing at the counter. Are you going to order food, he asked. "No, I plan on working out and don't want anything heavy on my stomach; I'll just hold off until afterwards." So after we had finished the job and on our way back to park the truck, we began a discussion on religion and our walks with Christ. And while admiring the discipline of other groups, whose devotion is a daily practice, the discussion focused on the similarities of the different bibles/books across beliefs. Though the different books represent different "faiths" some cover the same topics and some even mention The Main Character (Jesus) of The Holy Bible though the book may represent a different belief. We both agreed on the fact that if people today pick and choose what parts of The Bible they wished to uphold, why wouldn't the people before us not feel the same. In Paul's first letter to the church of Corinth, he shares: "Some say they follow Cephas, others Apollos, and some say Paul; but I follow Christ." Now, anyone can replace the names of Cephas, Apollos, John "The First Baptist", and Paul with anything or anyone to justify their walk but like Paul asks, Whose name were you baptised in?
If the Bible can be rightly divided (understood/approppriated), consequently it can also be wrongly divided (misunderstood/misappropriated); which is what religion, carnality, and pride does. Even though I seek God for understanding of the scriptures, my life is not soley predicated on what I gain from the text but also what I experience in my walk.
Back to the point, before starting our assignment I was tempted to buy something to eat - and most folk KNOW I likes to eat lol But I said let me wait because I wanted to workout beforehand. Anywho, after finishing our assignment (which moving furniture is a workout) we were approached by a friend. He said he saw us pulling into the lot and wanted to share he had more food than he could eat and welcomed us to take some. Am I wrong for believing in favor and not coincidence? Here I was just considering what my next meal would be and so was God. And to be on His mind in such a way that my thoughts invoked a response from heaven is joyous, humbling, faith building.. hallelujah! To know of God through the testimonies of others is one thing but to experience God day to day is more than everything! What makes believing in Christ different? It is what I experience with Him from day to day; which is called REAL-ationship.
